The Power of Questions

“The important thing is never to stop questioning” – Albert Einstein -

We are constantly seeking answers to many things in life – I don't know if that's possible? Why is this happening to me? When will this problem stop? Why me? etc.

We believe that many answers to the problems we have in life actually come from focussing on the problem. However, have you ever tried changing the questions that we ask ourselves? The hardest part is not solving the actual problem, but coming up with the right questions that will guide us towards the solution.

Therefore, the questions that we ask ourselves can really empower us or disempower us. They impact our perceptions and the way we interpret things around us and even impact the way we make decisions in life.

The actual science behind this is the Reticular Activating System (RAS) in our brain - which is very small and goal-oriented. Our questions give our brain a command. And when you ask it a question, the RAS is always trying to find the answer even when you're busy doing other things.

For example, if you forgot the lyrics of a song or you forgot where you kept your keys, you gave it a question. And then it could be two or three hours later, boom! All of a sudden you get the answer.

Why? Because you gave your mind a command.

And that is really the power of asking the right questions!

When you ask the right questions and if you tell your brain that there's actually a solution, even if you don't know if there's a solution, the brain is saying there has to be a solution for this and it actively tries to find it.

So, Ask the Right questions for all your Answers!

Here are some powerful questions to ask :

• What has stopped me from achieving this goal in the past?

• What would be the benefit of attaining my desired

objective?

• What will happen , or how will I feel if I don’t achieve

this goal?

• How does this decision fit with my goals?

• What part of this situation is in MY power to change?

• What options do I see for myself?

• What have I done in the past in a similar challenge?

• What’s the first thing that comes to my mind?

• What immediate action can I take?

• What is the first step?

• When will I take the next step?

• What are my possible road blocks and what will I do to

prepare for them?

• What support or information do I need to achieve this?

• Even if it feels impossible, what would happen if it WAS

possible?

Try them out and notice - What new perspectives do you get? how are your decisions changing?
